Black to the Trails is this weekend 

Presented by Black Trail Runners in association with Strava, Black to the Trails is happening this weekend and we can’t wait. Below is a final reminder of the key event information. 

Event times:

• 10am – Event opens & registration for all distances opens (please don’t arrive early as you will not be permitted entry onto the site)

• 10.45am –  Registration closes

• 11am – 5k starts

• 12.10pm – 1k starts*

• 12.30pm – 10k & Xtra Spicy starts

• 2.15pm - Prize-giving

• 3pm – Event closes

*Reminder: All U11s who are running the 1k MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Weather forecast: The weather for this weekend continues to change between dry and rain showers. We strongly advise you to wear trail shoes on course and layers which you can take on/off depending on temperatures, it is also advisable to bring a waterproof jacket. If you are planning on staying for the day then warm/dry clothes to wear post run is a must, Dunstable Downs is known for its wind even in May. 

Please feel free to bring picnic blankets and camping chairs with you so you can enjoy the atmosphere post run. All we ask is that you leave no trace by taking all rubbish and belongings with you when you go home. 

Coaches to Black to the Trails: If you are booked onto one of our coaches you will have received details of pick up locations and times. The coaches are booked to leave at the latest time possible to ensure they arrive at Dunstable in time for registration. Please do not be late, the coaches will not wait for you.

Please also be aware that once the event has finished, the coaches will be leaving the event at 3pm, please do not be late boarding, the coaches will not wait for you and you will have to make your own way home. 

By car: Please add ‘LU6 2GY’ to your sat nav heading for National Trust Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Estate via the B4541 west of Dunstable. 

Parking: Please park in the free grass car park which will be signposted for our event.

By train: Luton train station 7 miles.

By foot: From West Street and Tring Road, Dunstable Google maps directions

Registration and bag drop: All bibs are to be collected from 10am at the registration desk on Sunday 12th May. There is a free bag drop but any items are left at your own risk, and we can not accept responsibility for any items left at the bag drop station. 

Photography: Photographers will be on site and, if you would rather not be featured by us or our partners in any post event promotional material, please make yourself known when you collect your bib. 

Adidas Terrex kit loans: The team from adidas Terrex are excited to be joining us again this year, at Black to The Trails 2024.

Georgina from their adidas Running community, together with Laura will be on site and available to find suitable adidas Terrex test and trial trail shoes. 1km, 5km and 10km distances are perfect to take their trainers on trials to see if the fit, grip and performance is what you need.

The team will also have a Crack The Code prize draw happening, where one of you could win some fabulous adidas Terrex gear. Have you got the code (*a race bib number will be drawn at random) that cracks the safe? All prizes will be on display during the day and the winner announced during the prize giving after all the races are finished.
